Re: [APML] Aurora!!

I was out shooting both Thursday and Saturday night last week and saw
the aurora on both nights from Norther Illinois. Thursday's display
was even brighter and more structured than Saturday. The shots on the
web-site were actually taken about 12:30 am on Friday, Sept. 6. Some
small snapshots are available at :

It was quite a site. On Thursday I was torn between trying to shoot
the aurora or deep sky objects and removed the camera from the back of
the scope a couple of times to take aurora pictures. Unfortunately I
did not have a separate tripod for the camera (one more thing to pack
in the future, plus an extra camera body). I ended up putting the
camera on an equipment case on top of a small ladder I had with me.
The tripod went out Saturday night but I have not had the time to scan
any of the aurora images from Saturday night.
