Centaurus-Crux-Carina:
Crux-Carina:
Scorpius:
Orion:
Cygnus:
The original transparencies for the first three subjects had a
green cast to them, probably due to some mild skyglow to the south and southeast
from Lusaka. I removed some of the green cast in PS, but my efforts to get
rid of it make the background and dark nebulae too magenta. I've
been wondering if the green cast might be due partially to an additive
effect of the numerous blue O and B foreground stars against the yellowish
background Milky Way.
I made no color adjustments to the Orion and Cygnus images,
where I think the Milky Way tends to be rather bluish anyway; Elite
Chrome 200 is not particularly blue sensitive either. The reds and oranges in
the Orion image also appear to be pretty close to "natural," taking into account
the effects of the IDAS filter.
