Re: [APML] Kodak ROYAL 400

It just makes me happy I stocked up on Supra 400... 20 Rolls to go along with my 8 rolls of LE400 that I still had. I'm going to try the new Konica Centuria Super 1600 tonight. I don't have a lot of hope for this one, High grain and likely a ton of reciprocity failure, but heck, what do I have to loose.

All,

Thanks for the kind response to my “quick ‘n’ dirty” test of the “new” Royal Gold 400 film.  I am pretty disappointed that yet another great film is lost to us.  I guess now I’ll just switch to E200 slide film and hope that Kodak doesn’t change THAT one as well!

I had the opportunity to make some side-by-side test exposures with the “old” Royal Gold Select Series 400 and the “new” Royal Gold 400 over the holiday weekend.  The results were stark and graphic.  The “new” stuff is, unhypered anyway, useless now.  I put the results on my website, here’s the link:

I also provide some additional details on how to distinguish between the two films when purchasing.

Pat, thanks for the RG400 tests. Your "new" shots look just like some of the ones that I took last month using the new RG200 (inadvertently).

Another good astro film bites the dust. :-(
