Although Tony's image is impressive by any
standard, CCD's
routinely reach mag 15 on extended objects very
easily. IC1296
is visible on almost
any CCD image of the M57 region even with
small apertures. The outer halo is another thing entirely. Tony's ability
to bring it out without the penalty of excess noise
is whats so impressive
about his processing skills.
