Re: [APML] smart sharpening tutorial



I tried it and can offer a few comments:

1) The photoshop action file will not run on the PC version of Photoshop 6.0.
     (This included renaming the file from .bin to .atn.)

2) After working a bit with the manual process, I cannot say that I was
    very impressed.  The basic idea is to use the PhotoShop's edge
    detection filter as a mask for the sharpening.  I did not like the
    resulting extra sharpening of the already sharp boundaries.  I did
    not try it with an astrophoto but I suspect it will make the star
    edges too sharp.

3) There may be a case for using this technique if you combined
    it with light masking so that edges in the brightest areas of
    the image would not be additionally sharpened.

By the way, I'm curious if anyone has use the NikSharpener and
has an opinion to share.
