Re: [APML] Congrats to Robert Gendler

Hi Rob:
I just thought I'd let you know, when I started at S&T as the Photographer there were an number of comments made about the darkness of the images, and actually Alan MacRobert really brought it to a head and asked me to see what I could do. I eventually found a set of new "Dot Gain" settings for the CMYK profile in Photoshop that seems to be doing the trick. But I'll keep trying to make the reproduction quality better for you guys.

Hi Mike,
Thanks! At the risk of promoting myself I'll mention that
the cover image (ngc6888) is mine <G>. Yes I agree that
S&T has improved considerably in their print quality. In the
past they were actually applying too much ink (personal
communication with Dennis DiCicco) making the images
appear dark and featureless. They've made some changes
and I think it shows. I was pleased with the way the images
came out too. I sent in full res tif files which they downloaded
from my FTP site.
