Re: Re: [APML] 7331 be careful

Tony,
I agree with the below statement. IMO CCD can't compete (yet)
with film when it comes to widefield imaging and film can't compete
with CCD when it comes to dim fuzzies less than mag 9 or 10. Why
not get a CCD and have the best of both worlds. Put a CCD into
the hands of some of the fine astrophotographers on this list, with your
expert image processing skills and your dark skies and I'm afraid of
the possibilities. Why not have best of both worlds. I would shoot film
if I wasn't imaging under mag 4.5 skies here 20 miles from Hartford.

> Please be careful where this is inching bit by bit... the old film vs. CCD
scenario... if the film image is approaching the CCD image or vice versa...
it means that two accomplished practitioners of their respective arts are
ending up somewhere close to the same result... this is to be expected given
the limitations of both with the atmosphere and equipment. As I mentioned, I
am really stoked with this new film... it will serve us well in the coming
year. I believe what Rob has to say, that with a 2Kx3K CCD we can do some
real damage... but right now the real damage would be to my bank account!
