Re: [APML] 7331 (again!)
Excellant Tony,
Looks like hypering is the only way to get this film to record really well,
and Well at that !
I did another test shot last night with the RG200 (un-hypered) on M31. With
an 8" F3.5 newtonian, a 70 minute exposure didnt record much more than a 45
minute exposure. The only real thing I noticed between the two is the dust
lanes are a bit darker in the 70 minute exposure. You are right, the film
seems to stop recording well in fast systems after a certain time. One plus,
no evidence of sky fog....mabey 90 minutes is in order next.
Did you say that Fugi hq100 keeps recording well ? Was that hypered ?

exposures of 7331 (great test object) and recorded a LOT more than the
previous negatives. Tracking was very good, as was the focus this time. I
"polluted" these better negatives with the original Picture Window result
and came up with a new image and a close up.. you can see H II regions and
galaxies everywhere... in the close up, the companion galaxy to the upper
left even has two faint H II regions showing. As the signal to noise ratio
is increased through PW more detail and color is showing up... almost CCD!
