Check to see if the interior of the focuser is anodized shiny black aluminum... you are getting the star bouncing off of something like a mirror... remedy is to go out and buy some ultra-matte (flat) black paint and using a Q-tip paint the inside of the shiny tube. This will help quite a bit. Flock paper (Edmund Scientific=source) is the ultimate light stopper... it is what I use in my scope... when you look down the light path at a bright area... all you want to see is a black hole.
