Re: [APML] NGC 7331

Volker,

I got the detail by making every step aimed at the faint stuff... all
the while making sure the highlight detail in the histogram was not clipped.
In the end, I selected the the "core" area and brought the value down with
curves. The reason that I have stuck with color negative film is that it has
the unique capability to hold immense density ranges, whereas chrome and tech
pan have a habit of blocking up. Properly processed this creates the "3-D"
effect mentioned by Robert Reeves... the viewer is not accustomed to seeing
this range of detail. I am still not sure how to hyper this film or how to
use the STV... did more shots last night ... got a .3-.4 average reading at
70 inches focal length on the STV... might be something interesting on those
negs!

      Have a good one,

            Tony
