[APML] Sagitarius Region of Milky Way Photo
This is a shot I took about a month ago from the
Houston Astronomical Society Viewing Site (about 30
miles west of Houston). The shot is of Sagitarius
with Mars off to the left and the center of the Milky
Way in clear view. The picture was a piggy backed
shot taken with a Nikon F-2 with 50 mm lens at F-2.
The exposure was for 30 minutes on ISO 400 Kodak LE.
Other than occasional clouds coming over the seeing
was terrific all night.
Randy Brewer was good enough to process the negative
in Adobe Photo Shop. He improved the overall picture
quite a bit (thanks Randy). The picture can be seen
on Randy's web site at www.randybrewer.net/friends.htm
This is the first picture I've taken that I thought
was good enough to share with all of you experts. I
almost didn't put it on the web site this week but I
decided that a little photographic critical review
might be a nice diversion from the week's dreadful
events. Please let me know what you think.
