Lorenzo, have you tried Vuescan scanning software?.. its very good, you can try
it for free at http://www.hamrick.com/vsm.html , give it a try and see if you
still have the same problem. When you try vuescan, use these color settings:
white balance, black point 0%, white point 0.001%

If you still have problems then you hardware trouble.
