[APML] A new free registration software

Hello,
I've written a new registration program. It is available from
http://perso.club-internet.fr/eroyer/MoonStack/MoonStack.htm
(I've not forgotten the link this time !)
The page is in French, but if you download the software, I have included
a small english documentation.
The software is called MoonStack. It runs with windows 95 and up.
At the start of the project I wanted to make a registration program for
moon images taken with a webcam, hence the name MoonStack. But I found
that the program worked very well at registering deep sky images
recorded on film also. I have used it to produce all the images I have
put on my website since April.

How does it work ?
To register 2 images you have to manually align them with Photoshop or
Picture window and then MoonStack automatically corrects all the
remaining defects in alignment (see the doc for a detailed explanation).
So it is not fully automatic as Registar.

I think the biggest advantage of MoonStack is that it is free. The other
interesting feature is that it doesn't need stars in the pictures to
work. It can work with Moon images or even with daylight images if you
want. The images need to be nearly the same for the program to work
well. I don't know how it would work for tricolor pictures for example.
But for those who already own Registar, I don't think there is much
advantage to use Moonstack instead.

I have also made a version for MacOS/PowerPC but it is not on my web
page yet because of some concerns with memory managment not being the
same between windows and MacOS. Email me off list if you want to use it
on a Mac.

Clear skies,
Eric
