[APML] An Introduction
Hi everyone,
I've been lurking on the list on and off for a few weeks
without participating. After being on CCD lists for a few years
I had the urge to branch out but I'm still uncertain if I have anything
substantial to offer "film" astrophotographers. In the CCD world an often
heard compliment in response to a good image is to say it is "filmlike".
To this end I have tried to pursue aesthetic CCD imaging with the goal
in mind of producing "filmlike" images. With all that said, one area I might
be able to make a contribution is the art of making "mosaics". There was a
recent thread on mosaic technique. Many of the images on my web site
are mosaics. I developed my technique to overcome the "smallness" of
CCD detectors. An article I wrote for S&T in 1999 can be found at
http://robgendler.astrodigitals.com/Article3.html
The article deals with greyscale images but contains the basics for
stitching color frames.
Although I understand this may be "off topic" a few of
my recent mosaics can be seen at

This is a 6 frame mosaic taken with a 4" refractor. A cropped
view of the core shows the resolution.

M33 is a 2 frame mosaic with a 12.5"RC and ST10.

A cropped view of NGC604 shows the resolution in the image.

Several of my newer images (half of which are mosaics) are at

Many more images are on my web site below.
If people feel there isn't a role for a CCD imager on the list
please let me know.
