[APML] Comments on vans for dark-sky trips

OK, here's a query for you folks who travel to star parties or dark sky
sites in vans regularly. I'm interested in what sort of fittings, storage,
etc, works best and even more important, what have you tried that did NOT
work?

I know some of you use pickups (Jon, Wil Milan, others) and some use a VW
Eurovan (Kent K?); what about those of you who use a regular van-type
vehicle? I recently got a nice used Ford Econoline XLT 15 passenger van. Big
thing! Having taken out the three  back seats, I have about 8 feet of full
width, full height space to use for storage, sleeping, etc. Some of my local
astro-club buddies have similar vans, but have not made any modifications,
so I haven't received any enlightenment from them. Things just sort of roll
around inside.

I'm thinking in terms of battery box (buy or build?); generator; water
storage; small fridge; etc.  Any advice? (I think there was a recent thread
on small generators on this list or maybe the SBIG list; I'll check.)
