Re: [APML] LXD 500 Mount
Everybody recommends an LX200 for photography, what a mistake!. The cheapest
starting point is a G11 losmandy mount and whatever OTA you want to put on it..
if its not windy where you photograph from you can put a 12" sct on it or a 6"
refractor, smaller otas if its windy. A 10" sct ota can be had under $1k, but
then you have to get a Lumicon Giant Easy guider at around $500 or so. So how
much can you sell your LX200 for? (g)..
The problem with sct optics is that you get distorted stars at the edge of the
negative, you almost have to crop out half the negative if you want pinpoint
stars.. that in combination with the grainy films we use makes it very difficult
to do an 8*10 enlargement. SCTs produce bloated stars, due to the optics, focus
shift and guiding issues with long focal length.. this also limits
enlargements. SCTs can work well with deep sky ccd and planetary imaging..
