[APML]: Balance
I have posted 2 images of Hale-Bopp taken Oct. 13 on my page,
http://www.infomagic.com/~bright/cometpg.htm
You will find the 2 images toward the middle of the comet page. These
were taken on hypered Fuji SuperHG 400, my last role :-(
While working as far south in declination as was necessary for these
shots I noticed some problems with declination corrections as a result
of the added strain in balancing the telescope system. I threw a 2.5
pound counter weight on the tube which rested on one of the rotating
ring mounts (a rather mickey-mouse way of doing it)and solved the
problem. I would like to be
better prepared next time. What is the proper way to balance the
telescope tube/system and who gives a good explanation for this problem?
Thanks,
-Len
