Back in Nov '92, I accidentally developed a single Fuji SHG400 frame
(comet Swift-Tuttle w Schmidt Camera) in D-19 @70 deg (for 4 min). It
had bizarre looking "darkish" color (both unexposed base & exposed sky).
The comet showed up with contrast equal to that of another correctly
developed (w/D-19) TP frame. I still have this frame.
Just last week, I inadvertently mistakened TP2415 for the Kodak PPF
400 film (just by "feel" in changing bag, while loading Schmidt Camera
frames... Usually, the color film is easily "felt" by stiff, thicker
emulsion. That PPF film felt like the thin/flexible TP!) So, I
developed the TP neg in color devloper @100 deg F for 3.25 min. Of
course, the emulsion melted away & I was left with a clear film base.
On the subject of "enhanced" color developers, Johnny Horne wrote that
Sky&Tel article a while back about the Konica (?) color neg developing
chemistry. It supposedly gave improved results, anyone tried it & can
give some feedback?
For C-41, I currently use 2 step Beseler chemistry (developer &
bleach-fix). A few months back, I tried Kodak Chemistry (3 steps -
developer, bleach, fix). My dealer thinks that people prefer the
Beseler. Comments?
