    Hi Jim
   If you can find an old Celestro 1.25 round Rich-Field adapter to screw
on
to your ST-4;  this will increase the brightness level of a dim star.  
The  ST-4
focus will be different now.   This is what we did years ago.   Carl
Faulkner.
