RE: [APML] To mount, or not (slide film) UPDATE
Hi, Alan,
Smart alec. Whippersnapper. Wait. You're soooo much older than I am... Old
fart. This time I actually sent it out on-list intentionally. And again. ;)
BTW, I forgot to mention that Libby makes me use blunt scissors to cut the
film. Experience tells.
Share? Not my habit when there are already plenty of great pix out there.
I'll think about it though. Ya never know...
Regards,
Greg

Hey Greg,
As a reminder, this is on-list. 8-)

I looked at the returned slide film this morning. There is stuff that
showed (23 out of 24) so I went ahead and asked the guys (and girls) at
my local place to send it back to have them mounted. After weighing
what folks had advised, and taking into account the fact that I have no
experience cutting and mounting, I figured it was the smartest thing to
do, at least for me. Anyway, should get those back on Monday.
It just now occured to me that someone mentioned that sometimes there
is no numbering system to keep the slides straightened out and in
order. So I just called Total Camera and asked about it. She told me
that the mounted slides each have a date and negative number stamp of
some sort. So that makes me feel a lot better about all of this.

Hey, I've only been scanning stuff for 2-3 years with long gaps between
uses, which is why I forget everything.

I also just picked up the 12 shots I was able to get on Supra (after
the roll of E-200) before the weather turned bad last weekend. A 2 hour
shot of SH2-88 shows little. I got 130 and 145 minute shots of IC 405
and there's not a lot there, although the weird purple area shows well.
But little in the way of reds. 135 minutes of NGC 6820 shows little. On
the plus side, I finally got a fairly decent shot of M45, NGC 1528 too.
On another plus note; every single shot nowadays shows good focus, and
guiding. That's encouraging, need to work on framing a bit. I remember
the old days when getting one or two good shots on a roll was a thrill,
now they're all good.
My opinion: the E200 shots need to show some promise or I'm going to
start counting the days until I can get into CCDs. There are tons of
'faint' fuzzies out there that I have a hard time shooting because my
film can't pick up the light. I don't intend to limited to the Messier
objects alone.

You will share?
