Gary, I agree with Renzo, you have a better shot there
than the processing so far shows. There is a pretty wild gradient from green
to blue going left to right and as already pointed out, the picture was
clipped ( you see this by calling up the histogram ). Start over and use
curves ( 'S' shaped) gently over and over, not changing too much each time and
it will come out nicely. Others can help with ways to tease out the dust
lanes. An unsharp mask will help too.

I want to post 3 new shots. The M31 prime focus is my first
attempt at a galaxy. I don't really know how to process it but this is
my first draft. I'm going to work on it some more and hopefully make
it better. Comments and processing tips welcome!
