RE: [APML] Printing astro pics - help?
I believe that few if any of those systems can handle 16-bit/48-bit images.
Try it with the TIFs or JPGs as 8-bit/32-bit images. The machines also tend
to not handle rewritable formats. Go with write-once (CD-R).

Subject: [APML] Printing astro pics - help?
I've now been to the photo lab twice with my cd of pics to print. They seem
unable to find them on
the cd in their printing machine yet can find them on their desktop
computer. It makes me wonder if
I'm doing something to my pics that I'm not supposed to do so the
photoprinter thinks they are not
valid. The error message is "invalid file format" and it occurs on my TIFS
but not my JPEGs.
What I've been doing is this:
Convert source data to TIFF in Photoshop 6.0 (from film scan, ccd FITS file,
Nikon RAW image file)
Perform whatever manipulations are called for in 16 bit.
Assign Adobe 98 RGB colour profile.
Save as 16 bit.
Copy to CD using Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 and selecting the option to make
the disc readable on all
cd players. The files run about 35MB in 16bit TIFF format.
Any ideas why they can't print the TIFFs?
Stuart
