Yes, of course ;-)
 
 
Well, here is the "how to" with PixInsight LE 1.0.1 (it makes use of the new process PixelMath):
 
First blur a duplicate of the image. You can do this with Á Trous Wavelets or with SGBNR (disable the sides protections). You have to play with the bluring amount.
 
Then, open the "Pixel Math" window. Select "Substract" as the
operant and uncheck the reescale box. This prevents dark halos.
Apply it to the original image (without the bluring effect), and get the result as a new image.
 
Now you have a high-passed
image. You can substract this image to the original one and the stars will
be removed (again, don't reescale). Keep the high-passed image, becouse you are going to use it later. You can close the blured one.

Make all the adjustements you want to the new image (without the stars)and then add the high-passed image (with Pixel Math, of course) when you are done, now reescaling the result.
