Hi Ray,

I agree with you.  I found my eyes prefer images that contain many different
spatial frequencies with different amplitudes.  This is also usually how the 
nature presents itself: structures of many different size scales coexist.

Even if there is a statistically correct way to smooth out noise, my eyes don't
seem to like it.
