Here's a part of the answer that I received from Darren Talbot when I asked him wich film did he used realy ( maybe the freezer is the solution ;)) :
The film I used was the Fuji Superia Xtra 800 which I called "SuperiaX
800" which was a roll I had for about a year in my freezer. The red
sensitivity is good but not great in this film as the red nebulae are
there but don't stand out as I had hoped. I will doublecheck when I
get home from work as to the exact name of the film and email you.
See this picture I took with the same role of the film as the one used
for the SkyNews POW shotbut the NA Neb red nebulosity is a little
subdued.
http://www3.ns.sympatico.ca/dtalbot/astro/milkyway/cygnus_50mmP.jpgIn both pictures I only did touchups in Adobe PS 8 for brightness and
contrast. I didn't enhance any of the red nebulae but I wish it were
recorded better on the film.
I do like the grain of the 400 and 800 speed films and their low
reciprosity fai
lure and
ability to do long exposures. I don't usually
use slide film but I may have to if I decide to shoot more nebulae.
Kodak EctaChrome 200 is supposed to be quite nice.
I have purchased Jerry Lodriguss's Adobe for Astrophotographers and it
just came in the mail yesterday. Maybe it can give me some hints as to
how to enhance the red in the film once it is scanned."
