[APML] First attempt at stacking - Barn door shots of Andromeda, Cassiopeia
Hello all,
I ended up with several decent 5 minute exposures last
Friday night, so I decided to try my hand at stacking
images in Photoshop. I'm using a Mac, and as far as I
know none of the good astro-stack applications run on
it. I'm working on a Java program myself for
stacking, but it's a long way from seeing the light of
day, so for now Photoshop will have to do.
This was my first try, a shot with M31 in the middle,
NGC 281 on the far left and M33 on the far right.
There's still some visible overlap from the stacking
process, but I'm pretty happy with it.

The second attempt proved to be a bit better. This is
a vertical shot of Cassiopeia, with the Double Cluster
at the very bottom of the frame.

Thanks Jerry for your nice website that answered my
frantic question "Where's the *&^% AVERAGE blending
mode?!"
