I think it's you <VBG>. Actually, I recall an analysis done decades ago by
Kodak or someone who wanted to find the best (most legible) format for
slides with text. (This was long before PowerPoint.) The conclusion was that
light text on a dark background was more legible than the reverse. Of
course, that was for reading slides in a darkened lecture room. I can recall
doing text editing in the DOS days and I found that white text on a blue
background was easiest on my eyes.
But I agree 100% that dark text of any color on a black background is awful!
