Hi Frank,
I have used the Orion Astroview 120 (also a short tube). Even with the minus
violet filter, you will get some blue fringing around the brighter
stars:
The 120 has a 2" focusor and I was getting some
vignetting with it, but not too bad. I would expect (if the 80 has an 1 1/4"
focusor) that it would be a liitle worse with the 80mm. Also be aware that I had
to buy extension tubes with the 120 to meet the focus for the
camera.
