Sorry for the CCD post, but these are sort of
interesting as the field of view is similar to a 35mm camera with the TK1024
sensor in my FLI Dream Machine camera (25mm x 25mm sensor).
I used my AP Traveller with a 0.75X telecompressor
to give me approximately 470mm focal length. Although grossly undersampled by
most measures (~10.8 arc-sec/pixel) the images turned out far better than I
expected.
I used [SII], Ha and [OIII] filters taking these
shots.
One thing about that camera/scope configuration:
the exposure times can be very short. I was getting 4 color images per night
with time to spare.
IC1805/IC1795
NGC2244 Rosette:
Horsehead/Flame (used [SII], Ha and
NIR)
IC1396
Pelican/North American Nebula
I realize the colors may turn off many of you. In
defense of the color choices, I will point out that the famous "Pillars of
Creation" shot from NASA/Hubble was done the same way as most of these images:
[SII] = Red, Ha = Green, [OIII] = Blue.
Unfortunately my Cust Sci [SII] filter suffers from
some pretty bad internal reflections on the brighter stars. I need to see about
getting that replaced/fixed.
