[APML] slice command

Hi
I was checking out the digital stacking software Iris and noticed that it has a nifty "slice" command where you drag a line across
a portion of the image, like across Saturn's rings for example, and it gives you a graph of the pixel brightness along the line.
Is there any tool like this hidden in Photoshop or ImagePlus, or Picture Window?
