[APML] [OT] Computer Question

Hi guys-
I'm contemplating acquisition of a different laptop because my old one
doesn't have USB. I presently use a 233 Mhz PII Desktop with 512 Meg of
RAM for image processing using PS7 and Registar. I'd kind of enjoy a
bit of speed boost. I'm thinking of ditching the PII desktop, but
keeping the monitor to use with a laptop.

My question is whether I could expect to see a significant speed
difference in these applications between using either a 450 MHz PIII
with 256 Meg of RAM, or a 2 Ghz Celeron with 256 Meg of RAM? There only
appears to be about a $300 to $400 difference between the cost of a used
450 MHz PIII Laptop and the cost of a brand new laptop with a 2Ghz
Celeron.
Moving up to a P4 easily adds another $200, and I'm not sure I can
justify that big a chunk.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. And off line would be fine if this
is too far off topic.

Thanks--Steve
