Re: [APML] Scorpius and clouds

Hi Carlos!

Nice image, the cloud adds to the pic an strange aspect :-)
Try to do more exposures for combining, surely will bring
out the faint nebulas in the field, specialle those around
Antares. I see that the Milky Way's cloud in the lower
left corner has deteriored gradients, perhaps a Photoshop's
artifacts? Also I like very much the emission nebulas,
each has a different red. E200 is very sensitive to H-alpha,
but seems to detect emission around the O-III, isn't?

Continue with you great job,
regards,
Vicent.

Hi! =)
Here is my latest wide field astrophoto:
http://astro.astrophoto.vze.com/sco-nubes5.jpg
(about 1Mb...)
The tech-data:
Object: Scorpius (and some intruder clouds)
Site: Daniel Verschatse's Observatory, Los Andes, Chile
Date: 07/26/03
Exp. Time: 13m
Camera: Canon F1
Lenses: Canon FD 50mm f/1.4
F/stop: 4.0
Film: Kodak E200 (+2steps)
Guiding: Manual
Mount: Advanced Series CG-5
Comments: Scorpius was very low... and in the middle of the exposure all
the sky went cloudy, and i had to close the shutter. Seeing and
transparency very poor. The image is horizont up, to reveal in a more
familiar way the constelation.
The Digital Treatment:
Scanned with Polaroid SS35 at 2700ppi
Cropped and some dust erased with Photoshop.
Levels, Curves, SMI, Wavelets Noise Reduction, etc. using PixInsight beta.
A soft USM (not the "real") applied with Photoshop, and saved as jpeg.

I hope you'll like it. =)

Carlos Milovic F.
