Here's the specs for "my" (not yet mine, actually :-)) monitor:

a fellow member who contacted me off-list pointed out that the contrast
ratio and average brightness might not be the best values so as to make it
that unit really fit for image processing.
However, the CRT monitor I use at home (AOC 7Glr) is everything but a
high-end unit. IMO, buying such a monitor wouldn't help that much if I
already owned a good 17" Trinitron monitor, but I guess I will get some
improvement in this case. Don't you think so?
Furthermore, the deal is simply too good to be true (60% discount over list
price): it it doesnt't suit my needs, I'll always have the option to sell it.

I know Compaq's P1210 very well, because I use two of them at work every
day (professional software development under Unix). They are high-end
trinitron monitors, and although they (at least used to) cost an arm and a
leg, they give really crisp and breathtaking views of everything, even of
the crappiest image. I definitely wish I had one of those puppies at home,
but they are way too cumbersome and too expensive :-))

Well, that's right... But I'd never rely on a laptop screen for serious
work. However, also laptop screens have recently undergone stunning
improvements...
