RE: [APML] OT multiple posts
Also keep in mind the root server attack recently. There are still
routes having problems. Everything will be quite then all of a sudden
I'll get a flood of bounced messages.
If you are continously receiving duplicates then the problem is either
that you are subscribed twice (this happens often. People subscribe
under jsmith@mail.isp.com and jsmith@isp.com. Both messages will
reach the same mailbox even though they are treated as two separate
subscriptions) or it is a server problem on your end.
The occassional duplication issue is a Majordomo "feature". If an
excessive number of error messages come in or if the sending was
interrupted it will resend the message to the entire list as a
fail-safe. This results in those near the top of the list receiving
two messages but others only receiving one, depending on whether you
were before or after the hiccup point. This tends to happen when
either the Majordomo or mail servers become overloaded. The best
thing to do is just sit back and wait for the backlog to work its
way out.
Right now the servers do not appear to be overloaded. It is likely
an internet issue.
