Way off topic..... Re: [APML] LASIK
My car is one thing....but a laser in the eye is another!
I know about the Oil thing....Honda let it slip once that their cars can go 7K with no adverse effects. I've heard of some people with old cars experimenting with NEVER changing the oil. One guy is up to 40K last I heard. I change at the 5k mark...:) High Octane gas....he he :)
And my dentist dreams up all kinds of procedures for me....I just ask "What benefit will I have from doing this?"....the dumb stare is totally worth it! I pass on X-Rays EVERY TIME too....I have enough processing to pay for :)
I must have missed the memo....I'm a computer tech. Maybe I should send PC's back with a virus that destroys the PC in 3 months. For some odd reason I don't do that...conscience and desire to do a good job keep getting in the way!
Maybe Microsoft doesn't have bugs....just good business practices.....

I think this is somewhat true of a lot of professions. Why do you think
your doctor prescribes the weakest antibiotics first and schedules checkups
in a week, only to find you need a more potent antibiotic and another
followup in another week. I got keyed into this when I would take my kids
to the pediatrician and he would say "Viral 3-5 days, treat the symptoms,
that will be $75 and we will schedule a followup in two weeks (another
$75)". So he didn't do anything, no meds to help and he pocketed
$150. Dentists love to bring you back for cleanings, or when I had a
crown fixed, it took 4-5 visits each week. He got to bill 5 office visits
to insurance in addition to the crown work which probably could have been
done in 2 sessions.
Your car really doesn't need an oil change every 3000 miles, most can go
4500-5000 depending on the vehicle and driving style. It makes sure they
have business every three months from you.
Its not a conspiracy theory but a good business practice.....
Thanks,
Rob
