Maybe he could also try some 400 speed film like Supra 400 (which can
still be purchased---I bought 50 rolls yesterday to stuff in the
freezer). Presumably, it would be a bit less prone to
radiation-induced fogging than the 800 speed films.
Unfortunately, I don't know of any film data related to
radiation-induced fogging, so I don't think you can make any kind of a
prior estimate; you just have to try it. Even if he doesn't want to risk
using film which may be ruined, perhaps he could take a roll of each
film candidate up and leave a roll here, then develop both (unexposed)
rolls to compare fog levels.
