Now that's an adventure in astrophotography!  And with a barn-door
mount, too!

I hope he tries both - there should be plenty of time to try some
different compositions.  Can't hurt to take a roll or two of NHG II
along for the meteors.  I can't imagine how stunning the shower must
appear from orbit.
