RE: [APML] OT and kinda onT: E100VS, Velvia 50, and updated website

Ill have to consider that when I try for some low light waterfall shots
From what I read, alot of people rate it at about ISO 40 instead of 50, and then the occasional 132 and so on for large format...dunno all the science to it <g>.
Also longer exposure for cutting the saturation down for some peoples preferances.
This is all based on daylight.

That's a good point.  I generally rate Velvia at ISO 40 as well.

What lenses did you use to get those volcano shots...those are breathtaking...how close were you to that monster?
Those reds are almost flourescent!!
Excellent capture!

That whole gallery is nothing less then spectacular...I especially like the contrast triangle....I had to mess with it for a few to see if the pixels were really dark or not...what a fun picture.

Thanks very much!  The lenses used were Nikkor Zooms - 20-35mm f/2.8 AF-D; 35-70mm f/2.8 AF-D and 80-400 f/4.5-5.6 AF VR.

Yes, the Provia 400/100F works well and have a few shots I took of YYZ <pearson airport>, and niagara falls at night/pearson by day, that turned out very well.
The daytime shots of the gorge area of the falls really brought to life the blue colour of the water almost perfectly.
When I go back next month, I will be taking the E100VS with me as Im satisfied with the overall performance.
I dont know if you were ever to the falls, but at night the whole thing,<including the american falls> is illuminated with an array of coloured spotlights.
I want to attempt a nightime mosaic next time...Ive never seen one b4
Its definely a challenge Im willing to conquer with my 28mm.

Another good point.  Provia 100F has a beautiful color palette, but it definitely favors blue/green renditions.  It's useful to keep this in mind when shooting various subjects and in various types of light.

Tell me, what would you use for this situation? <g>...how would you attempt this?
Jeez I wish I could afford that fisheye that I had my eyes on at the store the other day.

Well, for some reason I could not get the streaming video to work.  But, anyway, I would probably use my tried and true E100S (mainly because I've used it a lot at night and know how it works).  My second choice would be E100VS, which is now my #1 daylight film (#2 and #3 are Provia 100F and Velvia).

By the way, I love your Wisconsin fall color shots.  Great compositions and gorgeous color.

Take care,

Scott
