[APML] Film/CCD collaboration: new images
Hello all,
About 2 weeks ago, Mike Halderman posted some great greyscale images taken
with his ST2000XM on an Epsilon 130 scope. The images really seemed to
match some 35mm work I had with my 130EDT. I asked Mike if we could take a
stab at doing an LRGB combine with his CCD and my film. He agreed. Mike
really has some great greyscale images on his site. The link is on all of
the pages listed below. Mike provided full resolution images for me to work
with and I just worked with Photoshop. I used either 100% or 50% of the CCD
as luminance, depending on the brightness and how well it matched the film
image. The star sizes seemed to fit well from the two different systems. I
am definitely going this route with my imaging, CCD for luminance with RGB
film. I am also trying to shoot some 120 TechPan for widefield smooth
luminances when I get a chance. The net result is a smoother image for my
film and a color image for Mike's greyscale. The images did not quite match
up 100% for framing. The M42 had the best match followed by M45 and then
Horsehead. Hope you like the images and thanks Mike for the collaboration.
