Hi Kevin:
Two approaches:
1. Matt's solution using median combine with 3 images might be fudged by
making a duplicate of your better image so that you have 3 images, 2 "good"
and one "scratched." Now run the median combine. Of course you won't get the
random noise reduction (grain, etc) that you would get with 3 independent
images, but you should get rid of scratches that are only present on one
image. Warning: I haven't tried this but I don't see why it wouldn't work
<G>.
2. Use Registar to register and crop-pad (match but don't combine) the two
images. Then superimpose the two images as separate layers in PS and run the
"Dust and scratches" filter (Filters/Noise/Dust and scratches) on the
scratched layer. A bit of Gaussian blur may help also. Then flatten the two
layers for your final. Alternatively, run the PS Dust & scratches on the
scratched tif file before running Registar. Depending on how bad the
scratches are, you might be able to come up with something pretty reasonable
with very little hand retouching.
