[APML] Combining Images in Registar

Is there a way in RegiStar to combine two images such that information that
is only on one of the images will not be in the combined image? I have two
negatives that have many, many small scratches. It will take me hours to
remove the scratches by hand in Photoshop. I was thinking that if I could
combine them in RegiStar so that only the information that is common to both
ends up in the combined image, I could get rid of most of the scratches,
then finish the clean-up by hand in Photoshop.

Anyone know if this can be done?
