Hi All
I saw a second hand Vixen GP Photo Guider for sale
recently.
I couldn't find much info on this in the archives
or much on the web in general, but thought, why not, if it doesn't work out, I
can always sell it on again.
Anyway, for anybody wishing to buy one of these
mounts (it's just the driven RA axis of the GP-DX mount), here's a pic I took
last Saturday 12 Oct from my nearest dark site (mag 5.5 sky)
Cygnus, 50mm lens at f4, OM1, 20 minutes on E200
slide film.
I arrived at the site later than planned (it was
already dark) so polar alignment was very rough and ready (took 2 minutes using
the included illuminated reticule) and the whole thing was set up in the dark
(it wasn't precisely levelled).
There is slight field rotation at the edges of the
frame, but I was very impressed with this little mount (it should easily support
2 SLR's at the same time), especially as I was taking first exposure within 5
minutes of arriving at my site.
I will post more pics when scanned, including some
200mm lens shots.
Just thought I'd post this for anybody else looking
to buy this little mount.
By the way, it took me less than
5 minutes to pack everything into car (including flask of coffee - no beer,
Steve)
This is a super, portable, take anywhere mount. I
am very impressed.
