Re: [APML] New Images, Galactic Center

 Stef...

I couldn't resist the opportunity to play with a Schmidt image... yours!
I use Picture Window Pro, and after downloading the Galactic Center pic I
looked at it in Grey/Brightness Curve to check the dynamic range... it came up
short on the Low (dark) end of the histogram. After stretching it out, I opened
it in Color/Curves and selected RGB color space. The red channel was clipped on
both ends *and* at the mid-tone peak. I played with the curves a little and
then increased the saturation using HSV and preserving both hi and low ends.

The result can temporarily be viewed here ----------------------->

Perhaps try rescanning with different settings and shoot for full dynamic
range without clipping any color channels... check for these things before any
other processing. I'm sure others can get even more than I have with the scan
you've got but, the focus and guiding are so good... I'd think it worth another
scan.

 Thanks For Indulging Me...
