I've spent a lot of time over the last couple of years
trying
to understand the DEC Oscillation issue. First, here is what
an
extreme case of the oscillation looks like:
One
other thing that I would stress is that the min and max on-time should be set
so that the mount stays within a certain range. The min on-time should be
between .03 and .05 seconds (30 to 50 msec). This insures that the mount will
move at least .45 to .75 arc seconds in response to any guide signal. I would
set the maximum on-time to no more than 0.5 seconds (500 msec) so that the
mount will not move more than 7.5 arc sec at 1x guide rate, or smaller amounts
at .5x and .25x.
