I'm not familiar with this camera, so I'm not sure what the self-timer
is buying you....

I have taken a large number of wide-field piggyback shots and consider
MLU completely unnecessary there.  I've recently started a series of
phases-of-the-moon shots at prime focus through a 127mm f/12.1 Mak-Cas
and use the MLU of my Pentax KX there.  I've been using it
religiously, so I don't have any real comparisons.  I suspect that
between first and third quarters, the shutter speeds are fast enough
that this may not matter.
