RE: [APML] SBIG STV and DEC Oscillation???

Hello Kent,
Well, I am not certain I am seeing this. At first, I wanted to write it off
strictly to dec backlash. To me, it seems to be related to the amount of
weight on the mount. I see it mainly when I have my AP130f8 with either
medium format or ST10 and STV efinder on the 600EGTO mount. I saw this the
other evening when CCD imaging. I changed various dec backlash and
aggressiveness settings. I went from dec backlash of "0" to "3" and
aggressiveness of ".3" to "2." I was imaging M33. I don't believe I have
seen this with my TV101 imaging in CCD setup. I am hopeful that the ability
to turn off the relay in the direction of declination drift with the new
firmware will help resolve this. I am still not so sure that the mount
could have been sloppy in the dec mesh and just be sloshing around. I am
hoping to check the dec mesh again as well.

Subject: [APML] SBIG STV and DEC Oscillation???

I posted the following to the SBIGSTV group last week and thought I'd post
it
on APML as well:

I would like to know how many of you are using the STV as an autoguider??

And

How many of you are experiencing a "DEC" oscillation problem??

By "DEC oscillation problem" I mean a movement in DEC from a plus (+) to a
minus (-)
correction, as displayed on the STV's tracking graph during actual tracking?
This oscillation could be slow, taking a few minutes to rapid, occurring
every correction. Depending on your system, the amount of arc second
correction will vary.

Over the past six months or so, this has been an ongoing problem reported by
several astrophotographers on APML (Astro Photography Mailing List) and the
Astro Physics lists (APUG & APGTO).
