Both Ron Wodaski and myself stayed with Darren Thibodeau out in California
during the AstroImage 2002 conference, so we got to knock heads together for
a while. Although I am a film person I was impressed with the
cross-connection between the image processing for both film and CCD. It was
quite clear that once the image was secured, be it directly with a CCD or
through scanning film, the processing of said image was nearly the same.
Although he was there at AstroImage to promote CCD, Ron had some really
useful processing tips that apply directly to Photoshoping a film scan as
well. The two disciplines are closer together than most believe. Film
ain't dead, its that darkroom that is dead.
