RE: [APML] Medium format scanner and new image: IC1396

Terrific shot Jeff... having recently imaged IC1396 I can appreciate your
shot and the detail you pulled out. Guess I'll have to go back and take a
look at my raw scans again <g>.

I believe the 8000ED is a fine scanner and after you've used it for a time I
think you'll agree, however, I really don't have a basis for comparison to
other medium format models.  You were smart to buy the glass-covered holder;
the 6X7 film holder provided with the scanner is good but only if the film
is nearly perfectly flat initially. It didn't take long to figure out
getting a focused scan across the field was a challenge. This scanner
coupled with Photoshop 7 and PWP is a powerful combination.

Hello all,

I must confess, I bailed early on the Minolta Dimage Pro because I did not
want the retailer to get squirmy on an exchange for full credit. I went
with the Nikon 8000.
