I tested a Minolta Scan Multi Pro during the last week and found the same
problem Jeff Ball found:
There are rainbow- like artifacts around bright stars.

It's a cropped little part of the original, which was scanned
from a 6x6- slide at 3200 dpi. One pixel from the scan now is one
pixel on the screen.
If Minolta can't fix it (I am very sceptical about that), this scanner is
unable to scan astro photos and I will return it.
