Re: [APML] Andromeda Up Close and Personal
Thanks very much to all who responded.
The steps involved in creating the image are as follows:
1) Five separate frames were used. Four frames were
done with the core as a common central reference point.
A fifth frame was taken with the core in the center. Each
frame was about 60 minutes (20 minute subexposures).
The core shot was 100 minutes with 5 minute subexposures.
2) Each separate subexposure was calibrated and 4 iterations of
ccdsharp was applied. The images were then stacked in maxim.
DDP was applied only to the core region frame. Nonlinear stretching
was applied to the 16 bit files in PS.
3) The greyscale luminance (5 frames) was assembled into a mosaic in
PS using the technique published on my web site at
http://www.robgendlerastropics.com/Article3.html
4) The color data came from several previous images of M31 taken with
various
instruments and cameras including my RC, FSQ106 and ST10, IMG1024
cameras. The color data and greyscale luminance mosaic were registered
using registar. Final touches were applied in PS.
